Making mistakes is a natural thing. We weren’t born as
pros, everyone learns from his own and others' mistakes having to pay something
for each lesson. We continue to run into the same trap throughout life, both
private and professional, each time becoming a little bit more experienced and
wiser - but only if you learn the lessons and remember.
It may be useful to look at the common errors every HR
makes, especially in the beginning of the career. Here’s our list “Top 5 Failures
Every HR Manager Makes”:
Failure to provide a proper onboarding
When you invite on your company’s board a new employee
your work doesn’t end with showing him his new place of work and introducing
him to his manager. Bear in mind that every single team member can somehow
affect your business, that’s why you should value everybody and establish
strong and friendly relationships with them. Good onboarding presupposes comprehensive
programs and trainings as well as culture acclamation programs.
Neglecting staff training
Desire to achieve some professional growth can appear
strong motivation for employees. That should know that you do care about their
education. Don’t miss opportunities for training your employees and enriching
them with new knowledge.
Failing to view peers as people
Employees are real people who live outside the office as
well and have their own private lives and feelings. It’s crucial to learn how
your colleague feel at work but it’s also necessary to know how their things go
in general. Remember that unhappy employee can become a challenge as he can
directly affect states of mood of his team members and thus decrease their productivity.
Making employees friends
Some HR managers go too far in the relationships with peers
and become their friends. For sure, its important to establish friendly bonds
with your colleagues but getting too close can cause lack of respect and
absence of subordination. To avoid this problems it’s better to keep some
distance from your team members.
Putting off solving problems
Some people, and those who are in charge of employee
management as well, prefer to step away from problems, hoping that they will
resolve themselves with the course of time. However, every HR should be
consistent and ready to react to problems immediately.
